Friday fill-ins on a bad day ; a/k/a don't mess with me, please

1. Please don't tell me that I look pale and should put on some makeup. I don't do makeup. I won't cut my hair. This is what a middle-aged woman looks like. (Yes, this has been an issue lately. Yes, teabirds can snarl.)

2. Can you leave me the hell alone in the morning until I've had some tea? Please?

3. The color periwinkle makes me want to knit a periwinkle shawl to wrap myself in when the world is too sharp-edged.

4. I have a craving for a silent retreat.

5. If my life had a pause button, I'd pause it often.

6. Eyes are the blurry windows from without and within.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching a few more episodes of the second season of "The Invaders," tomorrow my plans include knitting a quick pair of fingerless gloves to help me cope with a workplace that lost its heat and doesn't know when it will find it, and Sunday, I want to knit with (very tolerant) friends. (Note: the original fill-ins form ends this sentence with an exclamation point, but my head aches and the punctuation felt like a damned dagger.)

I agree with your response to number one. I do not know why people feel the need to give commentary on other's apperance.

I really dislike being told I should smile more. I've been hearing that since I was a kid, from everyone from restaurant waiters to library patrons.

Amazing answers. I love the periwinkle shawl!

Here, have a nice cup of tea! I'll just leave you alone [backs away quietly]......

I used to get that "smile" comment like KathieB. Nothing more guaranteed to make me snarl.

Sounds like the kind of days I've been having lately.
Enjoy your tea. :)

(In a low, calming whisper): Have a you-filled weekend. Recharge. Then clean their clocks come Monday.

Oh, a silent retreat would be so nice.

Oh wow do I hear you on #1. I do occasionally wear makeup, but really not on a daily basis, and I'm in the process of growing out my previously dyed hair (it's getting quite streaky with grey now) to see what it looks like to be 39 and unprocessed. And people just do not get it. I get tired of hearing about it.

My ultimate periwinkle shawl would be angora and cashmere, and have a lovely halo. And it wouldn't be delicate and lacy, but actually substantially present.

Love your honesty. I don't do makeup or hair either, just can't be bothered. And can't bear the feel of the crap on my face. Take me as I am!

I wish for you warmth and a silent retreat.

These Friday Fill-in are so much fun to read! Substitute #2 w/coffee, and that's me. Not that I'm grumpy in the morning, it's just that I don't like to be social and/or talkative until I feel awake. =)

I'm so tired of people telling me how tired I look. I want to reply that I always look tired. So, I know where you are coming from with #1!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Love the periwinkle shawl! I would love to make one as well. I also need to make some fingerless gloves for my work place that never have found the heat and have to sit on my cold hands often during the day. I also need a big sweater.

You are beautiful just the way you are and they need to figure that one out. Aren't we all pale in the winter?

I hope your weekend has soothed your soul a bit. I agree with you on number one. I have the advantage of living in MN though where a good majority of people are pale. It is usually only my mother and mother-in-law who bother me about not wearing makeup. As for hair, I am rather lucky that mine is curly and I have found a wash and go cut that works well.

I hope you knit yourself a periwinkle shawl. Just the idea of it is lovely.

I'm hopeful that this Monday finds you feeling better, and that you had a lovely knitterly weekend!
A periwinkle shawl sounds perfect - why not move one to the head of your queue?
(((hugs)))

I agree that would make all the sharp edges go away!
