Not too long ago, there was a kid in the park across the street wearing a kiff.. keff.. one of those scarf things and claiming he was going to blow himself up. I thought it was in extremely poor taste, that it's not a subject to be joked about, and that he had absolutely no business making such statements. There are a few people out there who are incapable of thinking before they act or speak, and it seems to me the stylist should have known better.
I believe it. Some time after 9/11 (probably the next following March), my husband put out his Irish flag. Two different groups of people walking by inquired about the flag and gave us the distinct impression that they thought it in some way symbolized the Middle East!
We have one of those scarves around here somewhere. We used to use it as a bedside table cover. I wonder where it is now. I guess I'll see you at Guantanamo.
I thought the scarf looked nice and in no way did it look like a Palistinian keffiyeh. Paleez! It just seems that everywhere I look now a days, the media, the man, who ever, is trying to strike fear into the hearts of Americans. Their trying to demonize Muslims....its time we look at the bigger picture....the whole dispute between Israel and Palestine is not one sided. People are being hurt on both sides because the British empire years ago stepped in and created this huge mess. It should have just been left alone. I guess we need to learn from history and tread lightly when it comes to Iraq.
Michelle Malkin is such a pain in the ass. I think Rachel looked cute (she usually does) in the scarf. It's not my style but then so what? And I wish Dunkin Donuts had stood by her instead of pulling the ads. Not all men who wear a keffiyeh are terrorists or am I just naive? Although, Dr. phil has acted suspiciously and I've always suspected he was a troublemaker.
Stupidity indeed. But I'm not sure I would expect a well informed response from a company whose profits come from products that are likely to clog up your arteries . . .
Yes, I had a keffiyeh and wore it in the '80s . . . I think I inherited from my daughter in her Adam Ant phase. And I speak some Arabic as well so I expect to be clapped in irons at any moment and sent to the Tower of London. Which I probably will be if the UK's BNP (British National Party) starts winning more seats on local councils and, heaven forfend, in parliament. It may be small comfort to you but we have a lot of stupidity over here on the other side of the Atlantic too.

hmm, that is very stupid indeed.
I've always suspected that Rachael Ray was an al-Qaeda operative, lulling us into a food-induced coma state. I'm glad I wasn't just making that up.
Next - Dr. Phil, Taliban member? You make the call ...

Wow. Thats just silliness. I just hunted down a pic of it, it and it doesn't even LOOK like a keffiyeh.
For anyone interested here is a pic of the ad in question and here is a keffiyeh.
Wow. Stupidity or what?! Move to Canada, darling teabird. We can have tea parties and knitting parties every day!

Agreed, that's just ignorant, racist and rude. People can be astonishingly stupid at times.
But I think that Bridget is on to something with that Dr. Phil. We had best keep an eye on him.

*sigh* I used to wear one of those back in the 80's. I am most assuredly not a terrorist.
Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar. And sometimes? People need to get their eyes checked and take a Xanax and STFU. :-P
I saw this on the View yesterday, definitely STUPID and they all thought so on the View as well

I saw this - WTF, indeed. On your way to Canada, stop by for me, please? I'll be ready to go...
