Benazir Bhutto, 1953 - 2007

An excerpt from an essay written for the Architects of Peace -

Benazir Bhutto reflects on working toward peace

"...And to push for peace is ultimately personal sacrifice, for leadership is not easy. It is born of a passion, and it is a commitment. Leadership is a commitment to an idea, to a dream, and to a vision of what can be. And my dream is for my land and my people to cease fighting and allow our children to reach their full potential regardless of sex, status, or belief."

This is just horrendous. I was really really saddened when I turned on my computer only to see the news that she had been killed. One of those days where you feel like everything is wrong with the world...:(

I read the news this morning and just sat there shocked for several minutes. It's just senseless.

It's all so senseless. Are we so hell bent on self destruction that the concept of peace simply gets swept aside?
