(can not be) Wordless (this) Wednesday (sorry)

WARNER: I hope in the recesses of your heart that you know that strategy will continue the casualties, stress on our forces, stress on military families, stress on all Americans. Are you able to say at this time, if we continue what you have laid before the Congress, this strategy, that if you continue, you are making America safer?

PETRAEUS: Sir, I believe that this is indeed the best course of action to achieve our objections in Iraq.

WARNER: Does that make America safer?

PETRAEUS: Sir, I don't know actually. I have not sat down and sorted out in my own mind. What I have focused on and been riveted on is how to accomplish the mission of the Multinational Force in Iraq.

I blame the messenger. He's spouting White House propaganda, and I think he knows exactly what he's doing. But then, I'm pretty angry the past couple days.

You know. I've never been a supporter of most of the Republican party line. (Tho' I've been a supporter of individual Republicans in my lifetime)

That said, I've always had enormous respect for Senator Warner - especially when he stood up AGAINST the party machine in this state 15+ years ago and said "NO" to a candidate for Lt. Governor. I have supported him ever since (as have many many liberals and middle-of-the road folks). Truthfully - no one of merit ever ran against him again.

But now? He's not running again. He's finally retiring. I will miss the man's incredible sense of ethics. He should have been president. Except we don't elect people of incredible ethics to that office. Somehow we know we can't.

Thank heavens he PUSHED Petraeus yesterday. B/c yes, we know the messenger is the mouthpiece of the administration....

That's a little insulting to a four star general to be merely a mouthpiece but then again. Anyone who doesn't say what we want to hear clearly doesn't have any intellectual capacity at all.

Not that I think this stupid war has made us any safer or solved anything other than Saddam Hussein's atrocities.

Anyone who does not spout the party line does not last long in this administration. There is no place for truth.

what a bunch of gobbleygook, huh? It's shameful as people and children and civilians and soldiers are blown to bits every damn day. But he is "focused" on that multinational force. He should focus on something for Life.
