In fact, I do still knit

Warm thoughts hat 3See?

I've been knitting hats for a Care to Knit project with my Ravelry peeps. This is hat #3. In the background is a stained glass that my father-in-law designed and made.

I've also been knitting a red scarf for
The Red Scarf Project. It's just about time to send it in.

The other news in my textile life: I want a spinning wheel. I want this spinning wheel. The reason I want this spinning wheel is that I was permitted to muddle around with try one at Panera a couple of weeks ago. I'm doing a little better with spindling (which is a good thing, since I've collected at least 10 of them already), and I love spindling, but - a wheel -

The woman who showed me how to spin on her wheel was using fibre that looks exactly like my hair - so I ended up spinning a reasonable facsimile of my own hair. Who else can say that?

In fact, if I decide to get a wheel, I'll have to do some research, try some other wheels, decide if I want single or double treadle, and all that -- but I love Victoria already.
What sayest thou? Would she make a good present when I retire?

(And would that help me decide to retire sooner?)

(You betcha.)

Goodness! That's almost a picture of you, isn't it?

Your hair looks a lot like my hair, if that is you wearing the hat. Before you commit to the Victoria, try a Lendrum folding...oh, the delight. (Though I am sure the Victoria is wonderful and you will know when you find the right wheel pretty much the minute you sit down at it.) And retire at will!

Yes, Meredith - that is my hair! I'm not committing to any wheel right now, and I'm seesaw-ing about retiring -

Oh to be able to even consider retiring ... I have a feeling I'll be one of those people they wheel out (and not because I'm dedicated, but because I'll *have* to keep working!).

Pretty hat - and your hair is so long! I have always wished for long hair, but it's not a good look for me. Trust me on this.

Hmmm. A spinning wheel? I think you should get one a) as a retirement gift, or b) as a I-deserve-one gift if you don't retire!

I would say, that if it helps you retire sooner? Yes.
:)
But only if you can afford to retire and then have enough funds to continue your passions...

(Your friendly accounting person making the "practical" suggestions...)

Cute hat! I love your hair.

Get the wheel. Retire. I can live vicariously through you. I'll be working until I'm dead.

Go for the wheel. It's a very relaxing way to spend your time, retired or not. I'd love to retire and then spend more time with my wheel but then I'd have less money to spend on the materials I need for the wheel.

What a catch 22.
