National Poetry Month - sweet and cold

This is just to say
by William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

My boys love this one. "He doesn't sound sorry at ALL!" they cry. And he doesn't.

At least he admitted it, asked for forgiveness... they stuff gets eaten here and NO ONE says anything, I suddenly go and it's gone... My poem would go much differently, LOL

Did you hear This American Life over the weekend? There was a small segment on this poem with several new versions that were hilarious.
