Anyone who reads Tea Leaves knows how passionate I am about Heifer International. Today, April 8, is Giving Day. Please give.
How about if I bribe you? If you leave a response telling me that you've donated to Heifer International between today and 14 April, I'll enter you in a giveaway for the the audiobook of Dewey, the Small Town Library Cat Who Changed the World (which I won last year, courtesy of EarlyWord, the Publisher | Librarian Connection) plus a yarny companion surprise.
I'll pick the winner on 15 April, and anyone whose country has been helped by Heifer International may enter -- which means, anyone on the planet!
Please give!

Trying to re-up the link; my computer is sending all manner or strange messages this afternoon.
On my way to the HI site right now!!
Oh I love the story of Dewey!
I expect a small check in the mail this week and had planned on buying part of a Knitting Basket from HI with it - just as I did last year.
Will get that done as soon as it arrives!
I love Heifer! Another organization I like a lot that is sort of in that same "teach a man to fish/give him a fishing pole" vein is Kiva. Have you heard of them? I've had great luck - my loans have always been quickly repaid and circular nature of the site means that the money just keeps going back out into the world to do good.
Lately I've been supporting EDAR.org. It helps local homeless people with these very unique shelters, and that is something that is very close to *my* heart. Especially right now.
This is a great idea! I'll tell the rest of the PassOnTheGift.org team. I'm helping them run some of their social media accounts (Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, etc.). Maybe we can get a few more participants for ya! :)
