still here

I am, indeed, still here, and it is, indeed, still here.

Reading:
Here Be Dragons by Sharon Kay Penman, this month's read-along on the Ravelry Book Club. I'm moderating the discussion, but there hasn't been a lot because we all seem to be having the same problem with the book: unless you are familiar with the history, genealogies, lineages, and other such details, it takes awhile to get the characters, issues, and allegiances straight. I'm there now, dude, and I'm breezing along, but I had some doubts --

Knitting:
Some baby things for Caitlin, a wavy-lace shawl in Shine worsted for myself, socks. I want to make the Weaver's Wool Mini-Shawl (see here for the pretty shawl that Penny made for her mother), and a couple of other small shawls to keep at work.

(I was so cold yesterday while covering reference in the children's room that I was wearing puppets to keep my hands warm.)

Writing:
Letters, cards, journal, checks.

Wishing:
I wish I could retire. Oh how I wish I could retire.

Ah well.
Still here.

The visual of you wearing puppets. . . My day is made.

Hang in there. Write me if you need to.

Oh, how I agree with that last statement. But I'm only a little over half way there. Sigh.

Well, at least they were puppets, and you were in the children's section. Around here, we only have white gloves that we give to researchers for the rare books. So you get to look like a mime or someone in a minstrel show ...

Every time the govt sends me my SS letter letting me know how much I can get when I retire, I sigh. It'll be 20 years before I can retire. Bigger sigh. I wish it was today....

I do love the mind picture of you wearing puppets to keep warm.
