fundamentals

Our president's proposed budget is going to eliminate funding for the program that enables Reading Is Fundamental to distribute books.

The story is here.

The website for RIF is here. Please take a moment to send an e-mail to your congressfolk.

Words fail me. They didn't fail Eleanor Roosevelt, who said "...the price of freedom is constant vigilance over ourselves and over our government."

We have to watch these people. Every. Second.

Horrible. I'll never understand why reading isn't important to some folks.

Our local Pizza Hut sponsors "Book It". For every so many books that a child reads, they get a free pizza. It was one of my children's favorite things when they were in school. They got prizes for something they loved anyway! Win win! Why can't the government folks see that an illiterate nation is a dangerous one? Look at what happens to countries where the citizens can't read (think Taliban). Stupid shrub.

Well what a better pool to pull cannon fodder from than an ignorant blindly following religiously indoctrinated populace. Ignorance is the goal of the current administration. Vile and evil people.
