Ravelry, again

If you know me, you know that I have the soul of an agoraphobic hermit. So how did I end up spending this afternoon at a local Panera, knitting and drinking tea with 3 women from Ravelry? Simple: I got there because I didn't plan to go.

I was browsing the Ravelry boards a little after noon, I noticed that there was going to be a meet-up at the Panera at 1:00, I pulled on my shoes, I shoved some knitting stuff into a knitting bag, and I went. Cindy came in, then Marian and Helen, and we talked, and we knitted - it was great! Why haven't I done this sooner?

(Because I have the soul of an agoraphobic hermit...)

In other Ravelry news, I am now one of the moderators of the fairly-new Pen Pals group. We're already comparing notes on our favorite pens and paper and exchanging addresses. Some might see an irony in finding letter-writing friends in a virtual community, but they'd be way too cynical.

Wow - good for you!!! I bet you had an awesome time - especially since you didn't have time to worry about it in advance.

I went to a kids birthday party & stayed for the whole thing this weekend. Then I came home and took a nap! :)

Just stopping by to say hello I have been so slack lately with my own blog and also stopping by the blogs linked from mine, so I am trying to fix that :)

I'm a hermit too haha. But even if I wanted to have knitting friends, seems like there are no groups in my town, I'm thinking about leaving a note on the yarn shop and see if I get to meet with 1 or 2 girls (I wouldn't like a huge group anyways).
About the irony of finding penpals on the internet.. I used to get them on magazzines like 20 years ago but in the late 10 years, it's all about the internet.. ^^
Have a nice day,
Veronica :)

Sounds wonderful! I hope that sometime I can sit and knit with you.

I've also met some other local knitters through Ravelry - though my effort was a little more concerted. *lol*

Finding pen pals through the internet? That is ironic.

I enjoy our little group here in the "D". I didn't really think that it would be my thing as I don't do much in the way of "girl stuff" but it has been a way for me to break out of my mold, at least a little.

I love the pen pals idea although I've just way too swamped as of late Wink Wink : )

I have had pen-pals for years, and I just love to get stuff in the mail :) Especially from my Knitting/craft pals :)

How terrific! I love Panera, and wish I were near the one you frequent! (from one agoraphobic hermit to another)

I have a penpal that I got when I was 12 (38 yrs ago) and a Girl Scout. Our coorespondence has dwindled down to once a year at the holidays but I look forward to her letter. We have known each other through 3 marriages, 6 children and numerous life events. It's almost time to write the letter that sums up my year and I look forward to it.

I used to have penpals. So long ago.

Sounds like you had a good time! Good. I'm a social hermit myself.
