Vincero! In memoriam, Luciano Pavarotti

Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
Tu pure, o, Principessa,
nella tua fredda stanza,
guardi le stelle
che fremono d'amore
e di speranza.

Ma il mio mistero e chiuso in me,
il nome mio nessun sapra!
No, no, sulla tua bocca lo diro
quando la luce splendera!

Ed il mio bacio sciogliera il silenzio
che ti fa mia!

(Il nome suo nessun sapra!...
e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!)

Dilegua, o notte!
Tramontate, stelle!
Tramontate, stelle!
All'alba vincero!
vincero, vincero!

Thank you. I tried to write about this, but couldn't. Even though I am not a great opera fan, I still am struck with an inexpressible sadness over this.

I love opera. Although Pavarotti never was my favorite tenor, I loved him for his sheer gusto and for the way he drew in a public that would never have listened to opera without his enormous personality.

He will be so very missed.
And I agree, he wasn't my favorite tenor, but he was so amazing, and he spread his love for the genre everywhere!
(sigh)
(((hugs)))

He once stayed in our house (before we lived here), and left a tuxedo shirt in the laundry!

I often wonder if he had trouble navigating the skinny steps ...

He was such a powerful figure for furthering opera. A crossover star before we had the term.

Oh I really liked Pavarotti. Not just for his Tenor voice but his enthusiam for life in all he seemed to do.

Whoa. . when I heard he'd succumbed him singing Nessun Dorma is what ran through my head immediately. Very big loss for all of us.
Thanks for this post!
